We work alongside the estates
and the curing works, not above them.
Dastaan collaborates directly with coffee plantation estates and with the curing works that hull, grade and sort their crop. That relationship is the whole business. It is how we know which lot came off which estate, at what elevation, and how it was processed - and it is how we put a better bean in front of you than a broker can.
The goal is not a modest one: to bring every specialty coffee India grows to the rest of the world.
We are first-generation exporters. There is no century-old ledger behind us, so we compete on what is actually within our control - moving quickly, replying the same day, and giving you more coffee for your money than the name on the other quote.
Speed of Execution
Enquiries answered the same working day. Samples out within the week. No layers between the decision and the shipment.
Best value for the money
No century-old name to charge a premium for. We compete on the coffee and on the quote.
Traceable to the lot
Estate, elevation and processing method recorded on every shipment, because we source where the coffee is cured.
Every grade, classified.
Grade designations follow the Coffee Board of India classification. Screen numbers refer to sieve aperture in sixty-fourths of an inch. Liberia and Excelsia are Liberica and Excelsa - two minor species grown in small volume in India and traded ungraded in bulk. Every lot is quoted per order. Green coffee moves daily, and hence, prices fluctuate.
Monsooned Malabar coffee is a world-famous Indian specialty. Centuries ago, monsoon winds naturally transformed coffee beans at sea. Today, the same process is carefully recreated on India’s West Coast.
Selected Arabica and Robusta beans are exposed to moist monsoon winds, causing them to swell, mellow, and develop a rich, musty, low-acid flavour. The finest grade is Monsooned Malabar AA - prized for its smooth body and depth.
Ideal for blending or drinking pure, Monsooned Malabar AA delivers the unique taste coffee connoisseurs love.
The grandeur of the monolithic Nandi bull on Chamundi Hills inspires these large, exotic Arabica beans - a true connoisseur’s delight.
Sourced from the highlands of Chikmagalur, Coorg, Biligiris, Bababudangiris and Shevaroys, these washed Arabicas are exceptionally large, uniform bluish-green, and cleanly polished.
In the cup: full aroma, medium to good body, bright acidity and fine flavour with a subtle hint of spice. A rare premium coffee that represents the finest India has to offer.
The majestic elephant with its jewelled howdah - a symbol of Indian royalty, mirrored in this king of specialty Indian coffees. Prepared from the finest Robusta Parchment AB grown in Coorg, Wayanad, Chikmagalur and Travancore, the beans are bold, round with pointed ends, and grey to bluish-grey in colour. In the cup: full body with a soft, smooth and mellow flavour. A truly regal Robusta experience.
